Point of Change Facilitator, Goldie Gilad

Goldie Gilad
Licensed Davis Dyslexia Correction® Facilitator

Goldie Gilad is a Licensed Davis Facilitator, providing help for children and adults struggling with dyslexia across many communities in Israel and abroad. Goldie specializes in offering the Davis Dyslexia Correction Program in both the Hebrew and English languages.

Goldie brings a deep understanding of the religious Jewish community, and a knowledge of the Yiddish language and tradition which creates rapport with parents and yeshivot. This enables her to provide highly specialized support for children and adults with a variety of learning differences.

Correcting dyslexia is a journey. Goldie believes that family and school support are crucial to the well being of the child. Therefore, she reaches out to the community by talking to the teachers, rabbis, and parents — encouraging a more open approach within the community so that children or adults that have a different style of learning can be helped. She believes there are no short cuts during this process and, therefore, provides extensive follow-up to support clients and families after the program.

Her interest in education was generated when she became active in the PTA at the time her children attended school. Here, she learned of the different issues that teachers were facing in the traditional classroom. There were many children who, although bright, didn't seem to have the same learning style as the typical student. When she viewed a video presentation of Ron Davis talking about the "the gift of dyslexia," she knew she had found the answer she was seeking.

Goldie became convinced that this was a unique approach and a different perspective on learning for students and teachers. Inspired by the idea that she could perhaps make a difference in the way our children are educated or how learning is perceived, she became a licensed Davis Dyslexia Correction Facilitator.

Goldie continues to attend and participate in different workshops on dyslexia to learn and grow — keeping abreast of up-to-date information on the world of LD.

Goldie has a B.S.W. from Bar Ilan University, Israel and has worked in mental health and family therapy in different settings in Israel. Goldie also tutors for English psychometric exams. She is married, has 3 children, and is a step-mom to 2 others.

The Point of Change/Davis Dyslexia Correction Client Testimonials

"During the last couple of weeks I have seen a great improvement in [my client's] attitude and behavior. He is more focused, shows better attentions and wants to try harder. He does not get discouraged when completing writing assignments. He does not rush through projects as he used to and takes the time to think tasks and steps through...After the [Davis] course that he has done, he is more aware of his focus, activity level and attention. Being aware of all these and having the 'tools' to assist him has really helped him in his work. He is less impulsive and calmer. He evaluates himself in situations and also evaluated his work more."
